Dinner at the Brasserie, The Marker Hotel, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin.
Last Friday night, we had the pleasure of trying out The Brasserie in the Marker Hotel. We had bought a deal from Taste.ie which was a three course dinner together with a bottle of the house wine for €70. The Marker Hotel is a five star hotel situated on Grand Canal Dock and is a very modern hotel. It is a stone’s throw from Bord Gaís Theatre.
Our table was booked for 7:30pm and there were only a few tables with people at that time. Priorities first, we opted not to go for the house wine but pick one from the wine list, a French red from the Languedoc region. We were told that we could have €20 off the wine we chose instead as credit, which was a nice touch!
Hubby’s starter of Beech Smoked Salmon with pickled gooseberries, seaweed salad, soda cracker.
My starter of Flamed Seabass with mussel & grape salsa, fermented kohlrabi, potato crisp
Our main dishes were superb, cooked to perfection, seasoned well and presented wonderfully. Hubby had the Kerry Hill lamb rump and I went for the special which was Venison.
Kerry Hill Lamb Rump with beetroot, caraway mash, Jerusalem artichoke
Venison with mash & kale
Both dishes were excellent. Hubby said that it was the best meal he has had out in ages! High praise indeed!
Irish Cheese Board – Homemade pear & raisin chutney, ditty’s oat cakes & water biscuits
Dining in the Brasserie was a lovely relaxed dining experience, with good service from the staff. We were told the menu was new and what a success it is!
The Restaurant was pretty full when we were leaving and had a great atmosphere. The whole night was great value and I would definitely visit again. All in all, I would highly recommend visiting The Brasserie for a wonderful, relaxed, enjoyable night out for dinner.
After dinner, we decided to head up to the Rooftop Terrace Bar for a couple of cocktails. The views from here are amazing!
